The Content Strategy That Ranks AND Converts (Most Do Neither)

SEO & Content Strategy

Most content strategies fail in one of two ways: they chase high-volume keywords that never convert, or they write conversion-focused pages nobody searches for. The fix isn't writing more — it's structuring what you write around how buyers actually move from question to purchase. This is the system we use.

Start from the money, work backwards

Traditional keyword research starts with volume. Ours starts with revenue: which pages on your site actually generate leads or sales? Those are your pillar pages. Every piece of content you create should exist to send authority and readers toward one of them.

If a proposed article can't be linked naturally to a money page, it doesn't get written. This one rule eliminates 80% of the wasted content most brands produce.

Build clusters around buyer questions, not keywords

A topic cluster isn't ten articles containing the same keyword. It's the complete set of questions a buyer asks on the way to a decision — what is it, how does it work, how much does it cost, what are the alternatives, how do I choose a provider.

Cover the full journey and Google recognises topical authority. Cover it in buyer order and readers arrive at your pillar page already convinced.

Every article needs a conversion job

Top-of-funnel posts earn email signups with a genuinely useful download. Mid-funnel comparisons drive to case studies. Bottom-funnel pages book calls. If you can't name an article's conversion job, readers will finish it and leave — and analytics will call that a success because time-on-page looked good.

Refresh beats publish

The highest-ROI content work is rarely a new article. Updating a post that ranks #6 into position #2 routinely triples its traffic in weeks — a new post takes months to earn the same. We audit quarterly: refresh anything decaying, consolidate anything cannibalising, prune anything dead.

The Takeaway

Content that ranks but doesn't convert is a hobby. Content that converts but doesn't rank is invisible. Structure every piece around a buyer question, point it at a money page, give it a conversion job — and audit relentlessly. That's the whole system. It just requires the discipline to say no to content that exists for its own sake.
